About Me
Hello!
& Welcome to Doing More With Les
– where cooking begins with a love for eating!
My name is Leslie Memic, and I was born and raised in the pacific northwest. This blog is my tiny corner of the internet dedicated to all things delicious and nutritious. Cooking has always been my creative outlet and here at Doing More With Les, my passion for cooking and experimenting takes center stage.
Let’s face it — my journey into the kitchen began with a simple truth: I love to eat! But alongside this love affair with food, I’m also deeply committed to health and well-being. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to discover creative ways to transform everyday meals into nutritious delights, using clean ingredients.
My aim is to inspire and empower you to try new things in the kitchen. Whether you’re here to discover easy weeknight dinners, healthy snacks, or indulgent desserts made with a nutritious twist, you’ve come to the right place.
Here’s to Doing More With Les — More fresh, wholesome foods and less unnecessary junk in our bodies!
Things to Consider 🙅🏽♀️
Seed Oils
Some of the oils I avoid are Canola Oil, Vegetable Oil, Sunflower Oil, Soybean Oil, Peanut Oil and Grapeseed Oil.
Organic
As a rule, I try to follow the guidelines for the “dirty dozen” and the “clean 15”. There are 12 items you should always try to buy organic, and 15 items that are typically OK to buy non-organic.
Dairy/Eggs
When shopping for dairy products, I try to buy grass-fed, organic whole milk and butter and pasture raised eggs.
Clean Ingredients
Health is Wealth
In all of my recipes, I try to steer clear of ingredients with added preservatives because they can be harmful to your health. Instead, I focus on using fresh, natural ingredients to ensure that every meal is as nutritious and wholesome as possible. Whenever possible, I try to buy organic. I avoid seed oils, MSG, artificial food coloring, high-fructose corn syrup, natural flavors, aspartame and sucralose to name a few.
Using clean ingredients has numerous benefits for your health and overall well-being. Fresh, natural ingredients are packed with essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that support your body’s functions and boost your immune system. They are free from harmful additives and preservatives, reducing your exposure to potentially toxic substances. Clean ingredients also enhance the flavors of your dishes, making your meals not only healthier but also more delicious. By choosing clean ingredients, you’re investing in your long-term health and enjoying the pure, authentic taste of real food.
